DP Facilities Expands to Loudoun’s Data Center Alley

Loudoun County is welcoming a new company to Data Center Alley. DP Facilities Inc., a data center design, construction and management company, owns the 65,000 square-foot Mineral Gap data center in Wise, VA, and is opening a 2,000-square-foot office on Belmont Executive Plaza in Ashburn.

“Ashburn is the world’s largest data center hub, and we saw it as critical to have a presence here,” DP Facilities President Mark Gerard stated in an announcement of the move. “Loudoun County understands the importance of attracting data centers to complement the growing number of technology companies in this dynamic area. We look forward to working with Loudoun County as we continue to expand and grow our data center footprint.”

Founded in the 1950s as Data Processing Facilities, the company’s early data center work included project with IBM and the New York City Clearinghouse. Today DP Facilities’ clients include federal and state government agencies, and it to serve additional government organizations and healthcare, finance, enterprise and technology companies. The Ashburn office will enable prospective clients in Loudoun to have face-to-face meetings with DP Facilities’ principals.The company also will be searching for additional land acquisition in Loudoun for its data centers.

DP Facilities may not be one of the more recognizable names in the data center industry, but the company has designed and built some of the world’s first data centers.
